FRENCH NEO GOTHIC SIVER AND GOLD LONG CHAIN

Make an appointment or enquire

French Neo Gothic silver and gold long chain (XRF tested) composed of decorative four lobed links and seven chased gold on silver motifs of three dimensional historic heads in larger quatrefoil pointed arches of a mediaeval character, with an attractive weightiness and presence to it.

The Neo Gothic jewellery movement in France was supported by a number of prominent jewellers, with Rudolphi and the Wiese father and son amongst the more widely known. It was one of a number of revivalist movements in the nineteenth century, spanning approximately 1800-1855, with its peak 1830-1855. As there was very little jewellery of this time to copy jewellers drew heavily on mediaeval or mediaeval inspired architectural features often including arches or ogives.
