EDWARDIAN STERLING SILVER DAISY LOCKET

Make an appointment or enquire

Edwardian sterling silver oval daisy locket, hallmarked, with two photo compartments and an applied lifelike daisy, leaves and bud with one petal curled up ready to be plucked, suspended from a 62cm. belcher chain.

A very versatile locket with endearing sentimental significance featuring a marguerite or daisy evoking the French love game “effleurir la marguerite” where the person playing alternatively speaks the phrases “loves me, loves me not” while plucking one petal off the flower for each phrase seeking to determine if the one they love returns their love. This is a common motif in Belle Epoque French jewellery but rare in English jewellery.
