We have acquired a cased American sterling silver lobster set of 12 lobster forks by Frank W Smith Silver Co of Gardner, Massachusetts, USA, 1886-1958, with associated shell cracker. The lobster forks have a lobster stem terminating in an elongated shell, cartouche to the reverse. The set is circa 1890. The forks are marked with a Lion on crescent with S (the hallmark of Frank W Smith Silver Co). The fitted box is stamped J E Caldwell & Co, Philadelphia, the set having been originally retailed by this highly respected firm (established in 1839). The forks also bear the name of J E Caldwell & Co. 

This set is ideal for eating lobster in style during Summer.
