Sterling silver Farmers’ Club medal awarded 4th March 1794 featured on a sympathetic contemporary chain in exquisitely fine engraving gives a glimpse of rural Scottish community and life more than 200 years ago.

Historic Sterling Silver Farmers’ Club medal- approximately 5.2 incl. bale x 3.5 cm - with an exquisitely fine engraved scene of an ancient one- man furrow plough within a delicate border of wheat ears and thistle. To the reverse the Farmers’ club division and recipient are finely engraved. Local intrigue, scandal or enmity in a small community are hinted at by the erasing of details after the winner’s name providing a microcosm of bygone society at the time. The reverse of the medallion with a brooch fitting missing the pin (which could be easily restored ) shows the passage of time with different owners, taste sand fashions over 299 years.
