Antique novelty pendant in the form of a silver and rich deep red and white polka dot enamel miniature propelling pencil pendant / fob.

Novelty fobs were very popular in Great Britain in the late nineteenth-early twentieth century. They were one of the few men’s jewels of the time where a man could show a more light-hearted side of his personality. They were -as now -humorous conversation starters. Sampson and Mordan & Co was the co inventor of the mechanical pencil and dominated the novelty fob market with miniature versions of the pencil and other whimsical novelty fobs at this time The fobs now make attractive small pendants.
