FRENCH ANTIQUE HAND MADE GOLD AND TURQUOISE BANGLE AND RING DEMI PARURE

Antique French Demi parure from the latter half of the nineteenth century in 18ct yellow gold comprising a ring and hinged rigid bangle. Both feature a central line of pyramidal topped turquoise cabochons in a rail setting with a line of fine gold beads either side. The bangle is hinged with an inner diameter of 58mm fastening with a concealed clasp and safety chain. It is stamped with a French hallmark of F or E, two interlocked wedding rings, R, and a rhinoceros head (used after the first day of 1847 in Paris. ) It is still in its well preserved original custom made fitted red Moroccan case inscribed with the Jeweller’s name and address: “Maison Le Cointe- Albert Chaise-Joaillerie, Bijouterie – 24 Rue de la Paix – Paris.
Maison Le Cointe was one of the most highly revered jewellery houses in the nineteenth century situated at both 24 Rue de la Paix and 26 Place Vendome Paris supplying the Orleans family, the Duc de Bordeaux and members of the French aristocracy and under the patronage of the highly influential Duchesse de Berry during the first part of the nineteenth century. In 1868 Albert Chaise the designer of this bracelet took over the firm. He came from illustrious lineage as the nephew and former apprentice to Jules Chase a major jeweller of the time. Jules Chaise also trained Boucheron and Jacta. Albert Chaise was one of the major supplier of models to Cartier.
