Forties Retro bracelets, bangles and watches are characterised by bold yellow gold bangles and bracelets which enhanced the at times quite masculine wide shoulders and nipped in waists of the Retro fashions. Many bracelets despite their size were quite light because of financial restraints after the war. Different coloured golds and finishes added variety but the great majority were highly polished. Often the bracelets and cuffs were combined with less expensive large gems - citrines, blue agate, smokey quartz- to create an impressive effect while curtailing costs. The more valuable pieces still included diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds but often smaller gems in expanses of gold. This is a very collectable area with the added bonus these pieces work well with modern fashions and lifestyles.
