Bracelets

Antique black and white very fine micro mosaic and silver bracelet featuring a three panel portrait of Venus, Goddess of Love, in flowing robes, driving her chariot with the horses rearing across the clouds with putti flying overhead and lyres on the articulated side panels. The bold detailed silver setting complements the stark black and white micro mosaic to great effect where normally a gold mount would be customary.

Micro mosaics have been created for centuries, by setting fine rods or tesserae on end into a “cement” to create an image. The earlier ones are finer, so fine many appear to be paintings. This one dates from the Georgian period circa 1820.
